Refund, Cancellation and Chargeback Policy

Version 2026-10-16

Host policy controls

The host is responsible for cancellations and for the refund policy posted for the event. That policy is shown before you pay. If the host has not written one, the default on the checkout page applies. SoldSeat facilitates the refund. SoldSeat is not the organizer and does not promise that an event will occur.

How a refund is paid

An approved refund goes back to the original payment method through Stripe when the charge was a card payment. The buyer receives the amount SoldSeat refunds. The host’s net for that sale is reversed. Card processing is usually not returned by the card network and remains a cost to the host. A demo checkout that never charged a card is reversed only in SoldSeat’s records.

Cancellations and material changes

If the host cancels the event, the host is responsible for the refund the host’s policy requires. SoldSeat may refund buyers and recover that money from the host’s balance, a later payout, a reserve, or an invoice. A date, venue, or lineup change is the host’s responsibility to announce. Whether that change is a refund event is decided by the host’s posted policy, not by SoldSeat producing the event.

Chargebacks

If a buyer disputes a charge with their bank, SoldSeat may contest or accept the dispute and may refund the order. A lost chargeback, an open chargeback, and a $15 card-dispute fee are debts of the host. SoldSeat may offset them against the host’s balance, hold a payout, keep a reserve, or invoice the host. Filing a chargeback for a ticket you used, or that the host’s posted policy does not refund, is not a substitute for asking the host.

Timing

Ask the host first, through the contact on the event or through SoldSeat support, before opening a bank dispute. SoldSeat will process an approved refund within a reasonable time after it is approved. Your bank may take additional days to show the credit.
